The percentage change in cruise expenditure tells the extent of the increase or decrease in cruise tourism expenditure. Cruise passengers generally enter the country for a few hours for the main purpose of sight-seeing before they board the ship and move to another destination. A cruise passenger does not stay in the country overnight. A positive change means that cruise passengers are spending money more than the previous period. A negative change means that that the cruise passengers are spending less money than the previous period. Countries that rely heavily on the tourism industry benefit from higher expenditure by cruise visitors.
